Can dissolved companies be removed?

We publish business data in accordance with our Business Information Transparency Notice. 

We can prevent a record being found in search engines, you can find out how to do this here. We cannot however, remove it from our website. 

When a company is dissolved although it is no longer active the details remain on the public record at Companies House indefinitely.

If a record exists at Companies House we are unable to remove it from our database as it is still a valid albeit historical record.

The purpose of Company Check is business data transparency. Allowing our visitors to carry out due diligence and check that the individuals they are doing business with are who they say they are. By removing records, we would undermine this very ethos.

Whilst we understand that some people have reservations about details being available on our website, the records we hold are public information and there is no legal requirement for us to remove any data.
